Meet Blue 🐾
Blue was a 14-year-old Border Collie that was a certified narcotics dog in 2012 and 2013 through the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association. He is the third working dog for Eric. He was a project to see exactly what kind of drug dog a border collie would make. In 2013, Blue took first place in the passive alert division in a competition in Hill County, Texas.
Even though Blue was never placed into service on the streets, Eric and Blue would regularly train and assist with Metroplex police canine units until the end of 2019. Blue became the Bench dog for Tarrant County Criminal Court No. 7. Blue passed away in 2024 due to old age. He was the last working dog for Eric and due to time constraints with campaigning and judicial work, he may be the last.
Eric’s first working dog was a Border Collie named Bo. Bo and Eric served as volunteers for Search One Rescue team from 1994-1999. Bo was certified in air scent and cadaver location. The work that was done with the team led to the creation of a police canine unit with the Euless Police Department. Eric served with Eros, a patrol/ narcotics German Shepherd.
